ESA cordially invites for the first industry day on Space Safety.

The Space Safety Programme has been set up to contribute to the protection of our planet, humanity and assets in space and on Earth from hazards originating in Space and to contribute to Europe by providing safety from such hazards, as a service to its society.

The past 2 years since the creation of this new Programme have shown an even further enhancement of our dependency on functioning space assets. In addition, a number of major space events have occurred including the start of a new solar cycle which underline the necessity to arrive at robust space safety services.

Today the 3 S2P Cornerstone missions Lagrange, Hera and ADRIOS are under development and the Space Safety Programme is now preparing its second period.
The new period will concentrate on the continuation of the Cornerstone missions, which offer a number of high-ranking opportunities for industry.
Furthermore, the programme will also expand in the area of small missions for Space Weather, Planetary Defence and Space Debris/Cleanspace applications and ambitious developments on ground. Finally, an In-Orbit Servicing Mission is under preparation.
These activities offer interesting opportunities for industrial leadership on prime, component and subcomponent level, as well as for the academic sector.

Furthermore, over the past years it became apparent that services, sensors and downstream products have a commercial potential also in the Space Safety area.
The programme would like to support these developments in Europe via a dedicated "competitive element" through which private business initiatives can be matured, de-risked or supported by ESA as an anchor tenant.

This industry day will introduce the existing and new programme areas and offer the opportunities for detailed questions and answers.

ESA is looking forward to receive feedback on the newly introduced "competitive element" and is prepared to collect first ideas. The opportunity for dedicated B2B (business-to-business) meetings will be provided.
